I’m searching for a video of Itzhak Perlman and Peter Schickele (a.k.a. PDQ Bach) performing together.?
Years ago on PBS, I recall seeing the two play in a special concerto for two violins, composed by Schickele. It was (needless to say) a humorous piece — at the end of which one of the two men (I forget which) played his violin upside down. That is: he held the bow in one arm and ran his violine over it. Does anybody recall having seen such a performance? If so, what is the name of the piece? And where might I get hold of a video copy? I tried googling on ouTube, but got nowhere …
I looked for a little while, and couldn’t find a video either. All I could find was that it’s a 1994 episode of “Evening at Pops.” All I saw on the piece was that it was a double violin concerto. I didn’t see a specific name. I’m sorry I couldn’t help more. I would love to have seen this. I love Peter Schickele and Itzhak Perlman both.

Pdq Bach, The Definitive Biography Of $11.00 Printed books are well and good, but, let’s face it, it’s a whole lot easier to let somebody else do the reading. P.D.Q. Bach was probably the most passive composer who ever allegedly lived, so the less effort you put into learning about him, the more you carry on his ideals…. |
